What is Escape the City?
Escape the City is a mobile outdoor escape game. Many know the principle from the escape room: solve puzzles as a team, combine clues, crack codes and work together against the clock. Only here it does not happen in a closed room, but outdoors – the entire city centre becomes the playing field.
Teams are guided by a game app on a tablet that leads them step by step through the mission. There is no fixed room, no setup and no prior knowledge needed: each team gets its tablet, and off you go. Fresh-air movement meets brainwork – exactly the mix that bonds a team.

Lüneburg grew rich on "white gold": for over 1,000 years its saltworks pumped brine from underground – in the Middle Ages an industrial operation unique in Europe that made the city one of the richest in the Hanseatic League. Largely spared in the war, the old town survives almost in full – the very backdrop that becomes your team's playing field in Escape the City.
Salt mining left its mark: in the subsidence area stand the famous leaning houses, and the 108-metre tower of St. John's leans a good two metres off the vertical. Around the magnificent Am Sande square with its finest brick gables and the mighty town hall, short distances and atmospheric settings line up – ideal for a mobile escape game.
By the water quarter on the Ilmenau rises the Old Crane, which once loaded salt onto ships; today the Stintmarkt is the lively heart of the city. Lüneburg also carries cultural weight: the young Johann Sebastian Bach studied here with Georg Böhm at St. John's, and for years the German broadcaster ARD has filmed its telenovela "Rote Rosen" in its lanes – a detail that can be woven into the story on request.

In small teams you follow clues through the old town via the tablet, evaluate hints and crack puzzles. Movement and brainwork alternate – every solved task brings you closer to the antidote.

Experienced team guides set up the game and are reachable by chat and phone throughout the event. You have nothing to worry about except solving.
4 · The finale
Together against the clock: whoever completes the mission in time saves the city. At the end the winning team is crowned – a moment you'll still talk about over the closing get-together.
