What is Escape the City?
Escape the City is a mobile outdoor escape game. Many know the principle from the escape room: solve puzzles as a team, combine clues, crack codes and work together against the clock. Only here it does not happen in a closed room, but outdoors – the entire city centre becomes the playing field.
Teams are guided by a game app on a tablet that leads them step by step through the mission. There is no fixed room, no setup and no prior knowledge needed: each team gets its tablet, and off you go. Fresh-air movement meets brainwork – exactly the mix that bonds a team.

Goslar has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1992 – together with the neighbouring Rammelsberg mine, which operated continuously for over 1,000 years. The old town on the northern edge of the Harz has grown over centuries and survived the war almost unscathed: narrow half-timbered lanes, quiet courtyards and wide squares on short routes – an ideal playing field.
The landmark is the Imperial Palace (Kaiserpfalz), for centuries the largest and most secure palace of the Saxon and Salian emperors – the first imperial assembly met here as early as 1009. Add the market square with the Market Church of St Cosmas and Damian and its carillon, plus countless half-timbered houses. Each of these places can become a puzzle station – teams cross paths along the way and meet up again at the end.
And Goslar has a trump card: just outside the gates lies the Rammelsberg mine, the only mine in the world to extract ore continuously for over 1,000 years – today a museum and part of the World Heritage Site. A detail that can even be woven into the story on request.

1 · The story
A toxic cloud spreads over Goslar. Your team slips into the role of scientists who escaped the disaster lab – now you must produce the antidote and save the city.
2 · The game
In small teams you follow clues through the old town via the tablet, evaluate hints and crack puzzles. Movement and brainwork alternate – every solved task brings you closer to the antidote.
3 · The support
Experienced team guides set up the game and are reachable by chat and phone throughout the event. You have nothing to worry about except solving.
4 · The finale
Together against the clock: whoever completes the mission in time saves the city. At the end the winning team is crowned – a moment you'll still talk about over the closing get-together.
