Mobile escape game through Koblenz old town
Escape the City Koblenz
A toxic cloud threatens the city – and your team has 2 to 3 hours to save it. Escape the City turns Koblenz old town into the playing field: in small teams you follow clues through lanes and across squares, crack puzzles and race against time. Escape room meets city exploration – right in the old town at the Deutsches Eck, where the Rhine and Moselle meet.
What is Escape the City?
Escape the City is a mobile outdoor escape game. Many know the principle from the escape room: solve puzzles as a team, combine clues, crack codes and work together against the clock. Only here it does not happen in a closed room, but outdoors – the entire city centre becomes the playing field.
Teams are guided by a game app on a tablet that leads them step by step through the mission. There is no fixed room, no setup and no prior knowledge needed: each team gets its tablet, and off you go. Fresh-air movement meets brainwork – exactly the mix that bonds a team.

Why Koblenz is the perfect playing field
Escape the City needs no museum and no entry tickets – it needs a city that invites exploration. Koblenz delivers exactly that: a compact old town between the Rhine and Moselle, where squares, lanes and the riverside promenade flow into one another on short routes.
Compact & fully walkable
Florinsmarkt, Jesuitenplatz, Münzplatz and the lanes around the Liebfrauenkirche sit close together. Ideal for connecting stations without long distances – teams stay on the move, on foot throughout.
Where two rivers meet
At the Deutsches Eck the Moselle flows into the Rhine – the Romans founded their "Confluentes" here. These 2,000 years of history sit in every lane and pull teams straight into the story.
Many scenes, one mission
Squares, passages, stairways and quiet corners turn into puzzle locations. A simple stroll becomes a thrilling race against time.
Koblenz: the backdrop that makes your game special
Koblenz is one of Germany's oldest cities: the Romans founded their fort "Confluentes" here at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle – and Koblenz grew from it. The old town with its squares – Jesuitenplatz with the cheeky Schängel fountain, Florinsmarkt, Münzplatz, Am Plan – and narrow lanes is an ideal playing field: short routes, many scenes.
The landmark is the Deutsches Eck, the striking headland with the equestrian monument of Emperor William I, where the Moselle flows into the Rhine. From here it is just a few steps to the Alte Burg, the Romanesque-Gothic Liebfrauenkirche and the Electoral Palace. Each of these places can become a puzzle station – teams cross paths along the way and meet up again at the end.
And Koblenz has a trump card: the city is the northern gateway to the UNESCO World Heritage Upper Middle Rhine Valley. The Rhine cable car floats you over the river up to Fortress Ehrenbreitstein in a few minutes – one of Europe's largest preserved fortresses and a spectacular add-on right after the game.
Getting there & good to know
Koblenz is easy to reach via the A61, A48 and A3 motorways and as an ICE stop; the main station is only a short distance from the old town. An Escape the City pairs perfectly with a ride on the Rhine cable car to Fortress Ehrenbreitstein or a dinner on the banks of the Rhine or Moselle – just ask us about a supporting programme.
Insider tips for your Escape the City in Koblenz
A few hints from experience so your team day in Koblenz runs smoothly:
🗓️ Best time
From May to September the old town between the Rhine and Moselle shows its finest side – ideal for the outdoor game. But it runs all year and in any weather; in Advent the Koblenz Christmas market around Jesuitenplatz and the Liebfrauenkirche gives the mission a special mood.
👟 Comfortable shoes
Cobblestones, lanes and the odd stairway are part of the Koblenz charm. With flat, comfortable footwear your team has more headspace for puzzles and less for sore feet.
🚠 Cable-car bonus
To finish, the ride up to Fortress Ehrenbreitstein on the Rhine cable car is worth it – with a panoramic view over the Deutsches Eck and the Middle Rhine Valley. A lovely add-on right after the game.
📅 Request early
Popular dates (May–September and the Advent season) book up fast. Requesting early secures your preferred date and enough lead time for individual adjustments.

How Escape the City works
The escape room experience in the fresh air – as a mobile game that your team runs through the city on its own.
1 · The story
A toxic cloud spreads over Koblenz. Your team slips into the role of scientists who escaped the disaster lab – now you must produce the antidote and save the city.
2 · The game
In small teams you follow clues through the old town via the tablet, evaluate hints and crack puzzles. Movement and brainwork alternate – every solved task brings you closer to the antidote.
3 · The support
Experienced team guides set up the game and are reachable by chat and phone throughout the event. You have nothing to worry about except solving.
4 · The finale
Together against the clock: whoever completes the mission in time saves the city. At the end the winning team is crowned – a moment you'll still talk about over the closing get-together.
Takes place in any weather – rain ponchos or sunscreen are included.

Off the shelf – or your own theme
Escape the City works straight away as a ready-made format. Those who want it more individual can help shape it – because sometimes a team event should sound like your team, not like a template.
Adapt the theme
Instead of the classic toxic-cloud story, the framework can be adjusted and varied – just ask us about the possibilities. The city stays the playing field, the narrative becomes yours.
Customise individual puzzles
On request we weave company-specific terms, insider references, numbers or a link to your business into selected puzzles. Small touches with a big "aha" effect for the team.
To be honest: not everything is possible, and a fully custom game needs some lead time – but in consultation a surprising amount can be done. Just tell us what you have in mind.
