The Christmas market as a backdrop

In front of Hamburg's town hall stands Roncalli's Historic Christmas Market, devised by Roncalli founder Bernhard Paul. Three times a day Father Christmas lifts off in his sleigh and flies over the visitors' heads, joined by a historic carousel and craftspeople working on site.

That is exactly what makes Hamburg a good place for a Christmas party that amounts to more than a buffet and a speech: the atmosphere is there anyway, you only have to use it. We bring the programme – outdoors on Rathausmarkt or indoors in the warm, whichever suits your group.

Hamburg has the highest density of companies in northern Germany, and the centre is easy to reach from anywhere via the main station and Jungfernstieg. For teams from the surrounding area it is the self-evident meeting point.

Outdoors

The Christmas Rallye leads your teams through the city centre with tablets, with stops on Rathausmarkt. New this season: battlespots, where two teams meet and compete head to head. Rettet Weihnachten is the outdoor escape variant.

Indoors in the warm

Beat the Red Box is an escape game at the table – it needs nothing but a room and works for up to 500 people. The Christmas Quiz Show with a host is the version where everyone can stay seated.

Hands-on

With gingerbread house building you compete in small teams – and the houses go home with you. With Christmas Domino, thousands of tiles become one shared picture that falls in a chain reaction at the end.

Planning on the ground

On the location: Rathausmarkt is central and approachable from every side — a good meeting point when colleagues travel in from different districts. There are further markets within walking distance in the centre.

On the room: From Kontorhaus rooms to restaurants on the Alster, Hamburg is set up for company events. The indoor formats need a space with tables — sensible insurance in Hamburg December weather.

On the running order: The programme belongs at the beginning, not the end. After dinner and the second mulled wine you will not get anyone moving – beforehand everyone is open to it, and the meal afterwards tastes better once it has been earned.

On the date: The weeks from late November through December are the busiest of the year, and Fridays go first. Plan early and you have the run of the calendar – more on that in our article planning your Christmas party early.

On getting there: ICE hub, Hamburg Central Station centrally located

When should we book?

As early as possible. Dates in late November and December are in high demand, and Fridays go first. Enquire in summer or early autumn and you have a free choice of both dates and formats.

Can the event be run in English?

Yes. Around a quarter of our events run in English – tablets, task texts and the on-site team all switch over. Mixed groups work too: teams can play in different languages within the same event.

Where exactly does the event take place in Hamburg?

The outdoor formats start from an agreed meeting point in the city centre, usually near Rathausmarkt. For the indoor formats you need a room – your own canteen, a meeting room or a rented space is entirely sufficient.
