Summer Team Events: 5 Outdoor Ideas for the Warm Season

By René Weinert May 5, 2026 5 minutes read

Summer is here. Long days, mild evenings, open meadows, lively city centers – the warm season is the best time for outdoor team events. Fresh air, movement and a bit of sun turn an ordinary company day into an experience that everyone is still talking about weeks later. Here are five proven outdoor formats we run every summer – starting at 39.95 euros per person and for groups of 10 to 500 people.

1. Highland Games – The Quintessential Summer Classic

If one event embodies summer, it's Highland Games. Picture this: a few large meadows, Scottish music, teams in different tartans, plus stations for log throwing, tug of war, archery and hammer toss. It's competitive, it's fun, it's team building in its most honest form.

Highland Games is our most-booked outdoor format and works best for 30 to 150 people. What everyone loves about it: no excuses. Even people who have never lifted a log can join in – the stations are designed so that strategy and teamwork matter more than raw strength. A professional trainer team supervises every station, ensures safety and keeps the competition flowing.

2. GPS City Rally – The City as Your Playing Field

In summer, city centers are at their liveliest – and that's exactly what we use with the GPS City Rally. Teams roam the city with tablets, solve tasks at landmarks, collect points and discover corners they would otherwise have walked past. It works in nearly every German city – from Berlin to Cologne to Stuttgart, in over 40 cities by now.

What makes the GPS City Rally summer-friendly: flexible timing (morning, midday, late afternoon – all work), teams move at their own pace, and it pairs effortlessly with a restaurant or beer-garden visit afterwards. Also perfect for distributed teams: people coming from different locations get to know the host city while they're at it.

3. Escape the Forest – Outdoor Escape Room in the Woods

Escape the Forest is an escape room, but in the woods. Teams follow a story, hunt for hidden clues, solve puzzles and combine evidence – all in nature. The beauty of it in summer: the forest provides shade, temperatures are more pleasant than on an open meadow, and the sound of birdsong instead of city noise is pure recovery.

The format works in nearly any forest area we scout in advance. Teams of 5 to 7 people are optimal, multiple teams can run in parallel, and the event scales up to 200 people. No prior experience needed – sturdy shoes and a small water bottle are enough. A trainer team supervises every team and steps in when puzzles get tricky.

4. Archery – Focus Under the Open Sky

Archery is one of our calmest formats – and that's exactly what makes it so special in summer. Teams stand on a meadow, breathe deeply, aim, release. It's an event that's not about speed but about focus, breath and precision. Anyone who has tried it is amazed at how quickly two hours fly by.

We use classic recurve bows, every participant gets a thorough briefing, and the day ends with a team competition. Archery works from 10 to 100 people – we often combine larger groups with other stations as a multi-event day. Ideal for teams looking for a contemplative counterpoint to loud, competitive formats.

From 49.95€ per person | 2–3 hours | 10–100 people | Outdoor

5. Crossgolf – Possibly the Most Relaxed Summer Event

Crossgolf is golf for everyone who can't play golf. Instead of a course, you play on fallow land, meadows or in parks – with soft balls and simple clubs. The appeal: every tour is different, no one has an advantage from prior experience, and the pace fits a relaxed summer afternoon.

What makes Crossgolf special is the atmosphere: teams head out at ease, meet between holes, chat, and by the end you know colleagues you might never have spoken to in depth otherwise. Perfect for teams who don't want a big competition – just a beautiful day outside with movement and laughter.

What to Watch Out for With Summer Events

Summer is ideal for outdoor events – but a few things are worth keeping in mind:

  • Best time of day: mornings (9 a.m. – 12 p.m.) or late afternoons (3 p.m. – 6 p.m.) are more pleasant than midday heat. On very hot days we like to shift stations to the morning.
  • Plan for shade: a pavilion, trees, or a tent – a few shady break spots are worth their weight in gold. For larger events we always bring sun protection along.
  • Water, water, water: we set up water stations, but every team should bring a refillable bottle. Important not just for comfort, but for concentration.
  • Sunscreen and a hat: sounds obvious, gets forgotten regularly. A short reminder in the invite works wonders.
  • Weather backup: what if a summer thunderstorm rolls in? For most outdoor events we have indoor backup plans or can reschedule on short notice. Talk this through during the briefing.
  • Communicate dress code: sturdy shoes and breathable clothing make the difference. Showing up in sandals to archery just isn't fun.

Conclusion: Summer Is Outdoor Season

When the weather plays along, there's hardly anything better than a team event outdoors. Highland Games, GPS City Rally, Escape the Forest, archery or crossgolf – each of these formats has its own appeal in summer, and there's something for every team and every budget.

Tip from 25 years of experience: the most popular summer slots (June and September) are often booked out by spring. Asking in mid-May usually still gets you good dates. Get in touch – free consultation, and we'll find the right format for your group and your city.
