Group size makes or breaks a team event. That's not a gut feeling – it's 25 years of experience and over 100,000 participants that taught us exactly that. In this article, I'll show you which event works best for which group size.
Small but Mighty: 10–30 People
Small groups are rewarding. Everyone knows everyone, communication is direct and short, and the experience feels personal. But that also means: the event needs to handle that intimacy. Formats that scatter 30 people across a huge area fall flat.
What works:
- Archery (from 49.95 €, teams of 4–8) – Focus, a bit of competition and real moments of achievement
- Domino Challenge (from 39.95 €, teams of 3–5) – Indoor, creative, and the moment everything topples is pure magic every time
- Escape the Forest (from 44.95 €, teams of 5–7) – Perfect for teams who want to solve puzzles together and enjoy nature
- Crime Challenge (from 39.95 €, teams of 5–7) – Outdoor crime puzzles in the city centre, ideal for curious groups
The advantage with small groups: less logistics, more flexibility in planning, and the budget per person stays manageable. On the other hand, every voice is louder – so pick a format where nobody can hide.
The Sweet Spot: 30–100 People
This is the size we work with most often. Big enough for real team competition, small enough that everyone still feels part of the whole. Almost all our formats work here – but some really shine.
What works:
- Highland Games (from 49.95 €, teams of 8–15) – The classic for groups that want action and team spirit
- XXL Chain Reaction (from 44.95 €, teams of 4–6) – When 10 teams build simultaneously and everything connects at the end, it's unforgettable
- Beat the Box (from 44.95 €, teams of 4–6) – Escape game feeling without a room, works indoor and outdoor
- GPS City Rally (from 44.95 €, teams of 4–7) – The city becomes the playing field, perfect for distributed teams
What matters at this size: the team split has to be right. We make sure teams don't get too big – otherwise there are always two or three people just watching. Better to have more teams with fewer people than the other way around.
Large Groups: 100–500 People
Above 100 people, logistics get demanding – but the impact also gets truly impressive. Imagine: 40 teams building a chain reaction simultaneously that fills an entire hall. Or 500 people launching into a GPS City Rally across the city at the same time. These are moments that bond an entire company.
What works:
- Highland Games (up to 500 people) – Scales brilliantly because stations run in parallel
- XXL Chain Reaction (up to 500 people) – The more teams, the more spectacular the finale
- GPS City Rally (up to 500 people) – Teams spread across the city, no space problem
- Teambuilding Quiz Show (from 35.95 €, teams of 4–6) – Indoor, high-energy and works even with 500 people
What to keep in mind: With large groups, the moderation is everything. Without a clear thread, the event gets lost. That's why we always provide experienced hosts for large groups who keep all teams in sight and ensure the right pace. Also: plan enough space. No problem for outdoor events – for indoor, you'll need a correspondingly large venue.

Conclusion: There's No "Too Big" or "Too Small"
In 25 years, I've learned one thing: there's no wrong group size – only the wrong format. 12 people at a quiz show? Not enough energy. 200 people at an archery event? Too much waiting time. But 12 people at a Domino Challenge? Perfect. And 200 at a GPS City Rally? Spot on.
